Evgeni Novikov

Tenor saxophone, Russia; many international competitions prizewinner, regularly performs with the Dutch National Opera Academy, the Amsterdam saxophone Orchestra, ‘528Hz’ Ensemble etc., co-founder of the Keuris Quartet. Lives in Amsterdam.

Evgeni Novikov was born in Novosibirsk, Russia. He took his first saxophone classes at the Novosibirsk Special music school. He went on further studies in Russia, France, and the Netherlands, under Andrey Turygin, Nicolas Prost, Vincent David and Arno Bornkamp. He has taken part in programmes that have given him opportunities to perform at the music festivals in Russia, France, Canada, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Lithuania and South Korea. He has won prizes at two major International competitions: the 5th Adolphe Sax International competition in Dinant (Belgium) and the Concours International de saxophone in Dreux (France).

Evgeni Novikov has performed with the Dutch National Opera Academy, the Residentie Orkest (Hague Philarmonic), the Radio Philarmonic Orchestra, Novosibirsk philharmonic orchestra, the Amsterdam saxophone Orchestra, Amstel quartet, Berlage saxophone quartet, Netherlands saxophone octet and more. He is the co-founder of the Keuris Quartet, specialized in the contemporary music for saxophone quartet. He is a member of ‘528Hz’ Ensemble. Since April 2014, Evgeni also collaborates with the Insomnio contemporary music ensemble (Utrecht, Netherlands).

Since October 2012, Evgeni Novikov is the artistic director of International saxophone Festival in Novosibirsk, Russia. During this festival, he regularly gives master-classes and performs chamber music works in collaboration with internationally known artists, such as Arno Bornkamp, Vincent David, and the soloists of Russian National symphony orchestra.
